Your data and offline

Armamentarium needs no account and no server. Your lists, your showcase and your settings live on your device. The application only goes online for its catalogues, the box scan's product catalogue and for what you send yourself.

Everything on the device

  • No account: There is no sign-in and no profile on a server.
  • On the device: Army lists, showcase and settings live in a database on the device. Showcase photos never leave it.
  • No tracking: no telemetry, no advertising, no analytics.

A list only leaves the device when you pass it on yourself or send it to YellowScribe. The details are in the privacy statement.

Where the data lives

On Windows everything lives in the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\Armamentarium. Type the path into the address bar of File Explorer to open it. It holds:

  • armamentarium.db3: the database with army lists, showcase and unlock.
  • settings.json: the settings, such as language, appearance and edition.
  • vitrine: the showcase photos.
  • data: the downloaded catalogues.
  • logs: the application's log.

The unlock is stored in the database, but it belongs to your store account. If it is missing after a device change, Restore purchase brings it back.

Backing up

You back up an army list by exporting it as a file. How that works is under Exporting as a file. An exported list can be imported again later, on another device too.

Working without a network

Once the catalogues are downloaded, you work without a network: building lists, datasheets as a PDF, export and import, the showcase. You only need a network for this:

  • Downloading catalogues: on the first start, for a further edition and for a new catalogue revision. The application downloads new revisions only on your click, see New catalogue revisions. Without a network it starts with the catalogue already on the device.
  • Downloading the product catalogue: for the showcase's box scan, under Options › Data sources. Scanning needs no network after that.
  • A message to the developer: under Options › Contact, see Reporting a problem and contact.
  • Sending to YellowScribe: see Sending to YellowScribe.
  • Buying and restoring: The store handles this; it needs its own connection for it.

When the application goes online

The application itself only reaches the network in these places:

  • Catalogues: Catalogues come from public repositories of the BSData community on GitHub. The application asks there only on your click: on the first download, when you check for new revisions and when you update. With a catalogue on the device it does not go online on start. The application sends no data about you; as with any request, GitHub sees your IP address.
  • Product catalogue: the catalogue the box scan uses to match a barcode to a product, from the public warhub-catalog repository on GitHub, only on your click. Your scanned barcode does not leave the device.
  • A message under Options › Contact: your text and, if you choose so, a redacted log.
  • Sending to YellowScribe: the list you send.

What is transmitted and on what basis is in the privacy statement.
