Showcase
The showcase
The showcase is where you collect your own models: each with photos, a label and notes. From what stands there, the application suggests finished forces.
What the showcase is
Beside the army lists, the showcase is the application's second area. You switch between the two at the top, in the header.
- One entry is one model: each entry stands for one exemplar you own. If you have the same unit several times, add several entries and tell them apart by their label.
- Across all editions: the showcase shows entries from every edition and game system, not just from the loaded catalogue. Entries from other editions stay fully readable.
- With its datasheet: when it is added, an entry keeps the unit's datasheet as the catalogue had it at that moment. Name, faction and edition stay, even if the catalogue is gone later.
- “Add unit” adds a new entry.
- Searches the collection by name.
- Changes the sort order.
- Suggests forces from your collection.
- The entries' cards; a double-click opens one.
Adding entries
By hand
- In the showcase, choose Add unit at the top. The Add unit layer opens.
- In the drop-downs below the Searching line, choose the faction to search in; under Warhammer 40,000, the main faction first. Then type the unit's name into the search field.
- Choose Add beside the unit. The entry then stands in the showcase and the layer closes.
The search always covers the catalogue of the loaded edition. At the very top you choose the game system and, where the system has several, the edition. Only what lies on the device as a catalogue is offered. The switch holds for the whole application, like the one in the army lists' area; the layer stays open. Under Warhammer 40,000 you also choose whether to search the catalogue or a Combat Patrol. Each row shows how many exemplars of that unit are already in the showcase.
- The game system to search in.
- The game system's edition.
- Searches the catalogue; beside it, the units of a Combat Patrol.
- The main faction, such as Xenos.
- The faction being searched.
- Searches by the unit's name.
- The matches; “Add” creates an entry.
With the box scan
You add a whole box with Scan box at the bottom of this layer: you enter the package's code, and the application suggests its contents. How it works: Box scan and product catalogue.
From an army list
An open army list takes all its models in at once with To showcase: one entry per model. If some are already in the showcase, the application asks whether to add them again. The list itself stays unchanged. This works with fixed lists too, such as a Combat Patrol or a Spearhead box.
Photos, label and notes
Open entry or a double-click on the card opens the entry.
- Photos: Add photo takes pictures in JPEG, PNG or WebP format. The first photo becomes the cover by itself; to pick another, mark it and choose Set as cover. To change the order, drag a photo to another place.
- Label: tells several exemplars of the same unit apart, such as “squad with banner bearer”.
- Notes: free text, for example paints or conversions.
- Image search: the button beside the name opens an image search for the unit in your browser. The application itself downloads nothing.
Keep your changes with Save.
- Opens an image search for the unit in your browser.
- “Add photo” takes pictures from your device.
- The label tells exemplars of the same unit apart.
- Free text for your notes.
- Deletes the entry with its photos and notes.
Viewing, sorting, filtering
- Gallery: the showcase shows each entry as a card with its cover. To its right stands the selected entry with its photo count, faction and edition.
- Photo zoom: mark a photo in the entry and choose View. The photo then fills the view.
- Sorting: the button beside the search field switches between Recently changed and Name A–Z; it always shows the current order.
- Searching: the search field narrows the cards by name.
- Filtering: on the left you narrow the view to one edition and one faction. The filter changes only what you see, not your collection; Reset filters shows everything again.
- Paints and paint schemes: the two buttons with palette and paint roller in the header open your paints and paint schemes; more in Paints and paint schemes.
- The editions of your entries.
- The factions of your entries.
Suggestions from your collection
The Suggest from the collection button beside the sort order opens the Build from the showcase layer. It shows finished forces and how much of each you already own, best covered first.
- Sources: Combat Patrol, Kill Team and Spearhead. The button appears once one of these catalogues is on your device; the switch at the top once there are at least two.
- Coverage: each row says how many models or operatives you have. Mark one to see the breakdown per unit below.
- Show legacy Combat Patrols: under Combat Patrol, the box at the bottom adds the ones the application no longer carries.
- Create list: makes a list of the marked force.
- The source of the suggestions.
- The suggestions, best covered first.
- “Create list” makes a list of the marked suggestion.
The free edition's allowance
The free version holds 15 showcase entries. From three free places on, the showcase points this out; once the limit is reached, Add unit carries a padlock. Unlocking lifts the limit for good.
Taking models in from an army list adds all of them, past the limit as well. What lies beyond it is locked: you can view and delete locked entries, but not change their photos, cover, label or notes. The youngest entries are the ones locked. Delete older ones and locked ones move up; unlocking removes the lock altogether.
