Output and exchange
Text export
As text, a list goes anywhere you can paste something: into tournament software, to the tournament organiser or into a chat. The application writes it in several styles, depending on what you need it for.
The export layer
- Open the list and choose Export at the top of the list. The layer Export opens.
- Under Style, pick the shape of the text. Below it, one sentence says what the style is meant for.
- The Preview shows the text exactly as it goes out and follows every change of style.
- Choose Copy text or Export text.
- The style of the text.
- The preview shows the text as it goes out.
- “Copy text” puts it on the clipboard.
- “Export text” saves it as a file.
Further down the same layer are the files for other tools and sending to YellowScribe, see Exchanging lists and Sending to YellowScribe.
Styles per game system
Which styles the menu offers depends on the list's game system; the first one is the default. The styles rebuild the text formats of New Recruit, which is why they carry their English names in both languages.
| Game system | Styles |
|---|---|
| Warhammer 40,000, Kill Team too | Tournament · GW-Style · Short · Detailed · Simple |
| Age of Sigmar | Regiments · Detailed · Simple |
| The Old World | Compact · Detailed · Simple |
| Horus Heresy | Detailed · Simple |
| Flames of War | Detailed · Simple |
- Tournament: for handing a list to tournament software or an organiser.
- GW-Style: in the layout of the official app's export.
- Short: short and to the point, for sharing quickly.
- Simple: compact, with models and wargear broken down.
- Regiments: army composition first, then a block per regiment and one for the auxiliaries.
- Detailed: the whole list, force by force and category by category, every row with all it holds.
- Compact: one line per unit, points first, then the options chosen.
Copy or save as a file
- Copy text puts the text on the clipboard; paste it wherever you need it.
- Export text asks where to save and writes the text as a
.txtfile.
The application remembers the style while it runs, across a change of list too, if the new menu knows it. After a restart the menu starts with its first style again.
Where there is no export
A Combat Patrol, a Spearhead and a list with unreadable data have no Export button: a fixed list is chosen rather than built, and a damaged list would only show the remains that can still be read. Their datasheets as a PDF can still be printed. Why a list is read-only is explained under Read-only lists.
