Building lists

The list check

While you build, the application keeps measuring the list against the rules of its catalogue. What does not fit stands in the open list, together with what to do about it.

The roster validation

Below the buttons of the open list stands the Roster Validation. Its head counts the findings, and its colour follows the most serious one. The sign in front folds the findings open and shut. When everything is in order, it says no issues.

  • Error: the list breaks a rule, such as a limit or a required choice.
  • Warning and info: lighter findings; many of them come from the catalogue itself.
The list “Tomb over the Limit”: the points in red with the badge “Limit exceeded”, below them the Roster Validation with one error on the exceeded points limit.
  1. The points: red above the limit, with the badge “Limit exceeded”.
  2. The Roster Validation with its findings.

Common findings and what helps

Each finding says what does not fit, and mostly how much. The most common:

  • Points limit exceeded. The finding names how many points are too many. Remove units, make them smaller or raise the limit in the list settings.
  • Too few or too many of a category. The catalogue asks for at least or at most so many units of a kind. Add one or remove one.
  • No Warlord, or several. Tick Warlord in the unit detail of exactly one character, see Detachments and enhancements.
  • Detachments over the budget. Take a detachment out in the list settings.
  • Required assignment missing. Attach the character to a unit, see Leading.
  • Hidden by the catalogue. A unit stands in the list that the catalogue does not offer as things are now, for example after a change of game mode. Remove it or change what hides it.
  • Messages of the catalogue. Some catalogues bring messages of their own; they name the unit they concern and stand in the catalogue's words.

Notices in the unit detail

In the unit detail a notice appears at the bottom beside the price as soon as a choice breaks the catalogue's bounds, such as too many weapons of a group. Where the application takes something back after your last choice because the catalogue now hides it, a second notice says what.

Read-only lists

Some lists can only be viewed: the buttons for editing are missing in them, and the unit detail shows the unit without letting you change anything.

  • Fixed formats: lists that are chosen rather than built, such as a Combat Patrol or a Spearhead.
  • Unreadable data: a saved list whose data can no longer be read; the application shows what it could rescue and leaves it as it is.

Viewing, deleting and the datasheets as a PDF stay possible for a locked list too.
