Game systems
Warhammer 40k
Warhammer 40k is the game system with the most editions in the application. This page says what sets it apart from the others and leads to the chapters that show it in detail.
The editions
Warhammer 40k comes with these editions:
- 11th Edition
- Combat Patrol
- Kill Team
- 10th Edition
- 9th Edition
- 8th Edition
- 7th Edition
- 2nd Edition
Each edition has a catalogue of its own. You can choose it as soon as the catalogue is on the device; you download it on the first start or later under Options › Data sources. Download the older editions only when you need them. In the catalogue choice they carry the note Incomplete: their data is less complete.
A list belongs to its edition. When you switch the edition, you see the lists of the new one; the others stay saved.
Detachments, enhancements, Warlord
Only Warhammer 40k knows the detachment as a choice for the whole list, along with enhancements and the Warlord. The detachments of the force chart in Horus Heresy are child forces instead. How many detachments a list carries depends on the edition:
- 11th Edition: Each detachment costs detachment points, and the list has a budget for them. You also choose a Force Disposition.
- Other editions: The list has exactly one detachment, chosen when you create it.
How to choose detachments and change them later, give out enhancements and pick the Warlord is shown in the chapter Detachments and enhancements.
- The open list with its units, grouped by category.
What else comes with building
- Main faction: In the 10th and 11th Edition, when you create a list you first choose the main faction, such as Imperium or Xenos, and the faction within it.
- Game mode: You choose one in the 10th and 11th Edition. Older editions have none; their lists are made of detachments.
- Allies: The catalogue also offers allied units of other factions. The filter Main faction only in the catalogue hides them.
Combat Patrol and Kill Team
Both stand as editions of their own beside the others, each with its own catalogue and its own allowance in the free version.
- Combat Patrol: You choose a finished patrol without points, as a fixed list.
- Kill Team: You choose a team and put the operatives together yourself, without points, detachment or Warlord.
Text styles
As text, a list comes in these styles; the first is the default:
- Tournament
- GW-Style
- Short
- Detailed
- Simple
What each style writes is in the chapter Text export.
