Sending to YellowScribe

YellowScribe sets an army list up in Tabletop Simulator. The application sends the list there on a click and gets a code back that you type into the simulator.

What YellowScribe is

YellowScribe is a third-party, open-source service run by one person, with no account and no promise that it is reachable. It takes a list and hands it on to the Yellow Machine in Tabletop Simulator.

  • 10th and 11th Edition only: The service knows only these two editions of Warhammer 40,000. For every other one, the section is missing from the export layer altogether.
  • Optional: Without YellowScribe the application stays fully usable; nothing is sent without your click.

Sending a list

  1. Open the list and choose Export.
  2. At the bottom stands the section For Tabletop Simulator with the sentence Sending transmits your complete army list off this device.
  3. Choose Send to YellowScribe. While the list is on its way, it reads Sending the army list …
The layer “Export”, scrolled down: under “As a file” the buttons “Export JSON” and “Export roster file (.ros)”, below them “For Tabletop Simulator” with “Send to YellowScribe”.
  1. “Export JSON” saves the list as a file.
  2. “Export roster file (.ros)” saves it in BattleScribe's roster format.
  3. “Send to YellowScribe” sends the complete list to the service.

The code

Once the list has arrived, the layer shows a code under Your code. Type it into the Yellow Machine in Tabletop Simulator; Copy code puts it on the clipboard.

The code belongs to the list it came from. If you switch lists while sending, the application discards the result.

What leaves the device

What is sent is the complete army list, as it is, with nothing shortened or blacked out. That happens only on your click, with no automatic retry and never in the background. YellowScribe holds the list and drops it when the code expires; what the service does beyond that, the application cannot promise.

Sending to YellowScribe is one of the network accesses the privacy statement names one by one. The files from the export, by contrast, do not leave the device on their own. When else the application goes online is in Your data and offline.

When sending fails

If the list does not arrive, the layer shows Upload failed with an error code:

  • YSC-01, no connection: the device or the service cannot be reached.
  • YSC-02, refused: the service did not accept the list.

The service is run by one person and is occasionally unreachable. Try again later, or save the list with Export roster file (.ros) and upload it to YellowScribe by hand.
