Showcase

Paints and paint schemes

In the showcase you record what you paint your models with: paints from the paint catalogue, paints of your own and paint schemes you assign to your models.

Viewing paints

The Paints button with the palette in the showcase's header opens the layer Paints. The paint catalogue comes with the application and needs no network.

  • Catalogue or Own: the switch at the top changes between the paint catalogue and your own paints.
  • Search: the field Name or code filters the list.
  • Brand: the picker beside it shows all brands or just one.
The “Paints” layer: at the top the switch between Catalogue and Own, below it the search field and the “All brands” picker, below those the paints with swatch, name, brand and code, each with the equivalents button; at the bottom the “Add paint” button.
  1. Shows the paint catalogue.
  2. Shows your own paints.
  3. Searches by name or code.
  4. Shows all brands or just one.
  5. The paints; the button on the right shows equivalents.
  6. “Add paint” creates a new one.

Own paints

If a paint is missing, you add it yourself, such as a mix of your own.

  1. In the Paints layer, choose Add paint at the bottom.
  2. Enter Name and Brand. Code and Colour value are optional; the colour value is a hex value such as #A01F2B.
  3. Save the paint. It then stands under Own.

Under Own you edit or delete a paint with the buttons in its row.

Equivalents

The Show equivalents button beside a paint looks for paints of other brands with a similar hue. You find it in the paint list, in a paint scheme and in the recipe of a showcase entry. Every match carries close or similar; at the top you narrow down the brands.

Creating paint schemes

A paint scheme is a recipe: which paints you use at which stage. The Paint schemes button beside the paints in the showcase's header opens the list of your schemes. Every row shows how many models carry the scheme, and its paints.

The “Paint schemes” layer with the scheme “Wakened Tomb”, one model and four swatches; on the right the buttons to edit and delete, at the bottom the “New paint scheme” button.
  1. A scheme with the number of its models and its paints.
  2. Opens the scheme for editing.
  3. “New paint scheme” creates a scheme.
  1. Choose New paint scheme and enter a Name. Every name exists only once.
  2. Beside a stage, Base, Layer, Highlight or Wash, choose the plus and pick a paint from the catalogue or your own.
  3. If you like, write a Note beside the paint, such as “edges only”. To change the order within a stage, drag a paint by its handle.
  4. Choose Save.
The “Edit paint scheme” layer: at the top the name “Wakened Tomb”, below it the stages Base, Layer, Highlight and Wash with one paint and note each, at the bottom the buttons “Assign to models”, “Save” and “Cancel”.
  1. The scheme's name.
  2. The stages with their paints and notes.
  3. “Assign to models” opens the assignment.

If you delete a scheme, the models stay, just without a scheme.

Assigning schemes

  1. Open a saved scheme and choose Assign to models.
  2. Check the models that are to carry the scheme.
  3. Choose Apply.
The “Assign models” layer for the scheme “Wakened Tomb”: the showcase's models with checkboxes, each with faction and edition; at the bottom “Apply”.
  1. The showcase's models; a check assigns the scheme.
  2. “Apply” saves the assignment.

You can also pick a scheme for a single entry, in the showcase entry's field Paint scheme; its recipe then stands below. Locked entries of the free edition cannot be changed.
